In all truth, the problem with custom patches for most consumers is simply making the minimum order for a standard patch supply company. If you are looking to do 50 or more, most embroider and screenprint companies have relationships with patch companies that will produce them fairly cheaply, and won't charge you for digitizing (interpreting and programming your design into a file that can run embroidery machines). That said, some companies, mine included, will create smaller batch, custom-cut patches, but they generally come with a digitizing fee and cost on the order of twice as much as you would have paid for emblems made by a patch company.
