Watch this video till the end and see if your TV needs a setting change:

TV internet / Broadband connection with low bandwidth

To play Live videos over youtube or TV streaming App, you need a minimum of 3 Mbps broadband connection. This should be over 4 Mbps is the content is in 4K or HD.

If you lose wifi connectivity often and you broadband network isn't the best - best if to have a LAN connection setup with your TV. This is a great backup in case your connection drops. Your TV will automatically switch to LAN connection without breaking your live stream over internet. LAN cable connection is a cheap yet stable way of ensuring uninterrupted TV live stream over internet which prevents your TV to go slow over internet with buffering issues.

TV hardware outdated and does not support / best suited for software or TV apps installed

Outdated TV hardware running latest TV apps with latest contemporary features can make you TV go slow to respond. While the simplest way to upgrade your TV hardware is to buy a new television itself, you can accept reality with downloading / installing minimal low bandwidth apps on your TV. Freeview and cable TV should not be impacted much as compared to the buffering / slow response problems that come with apps with live streaming over the internet.

  • Uninstall unused apps from time to time

  • Clear cache

  • Use LAN cable connection for internet over wifi

  • Set location tracking off

  • Set automatic software upgrade off

  • Set automatic apps update off

These can easily be done under the 'Settings' of you TV. Go to Apps / About / Storage and you will find them OR watch the videos on this post.

1. How do I clear the cache on my Sony TV?

  1. Press the HOME button.

  2. Scroll to Applications or All Apps.

  3. Run the Internet Browser app.

  4. Press the Options button and select Browser settings.

  5. Scroll down to Clear Cache and Delete All Cookies, or Clear Cookies.

  6. Select YES.

  7. Perform a power reset on the TV.

2. Press the green standby button on the top right of your remote control and keep it pressed down for 10 seconds, it will reset your TV and apps, a bit like turning your computer off and on again!

3. The above 2 processes should reboot your TV and get it working faster, but if all else fails, try a Factory Data reset. This sorts out most software problems, but it does take 10-15 minutes and you will be required to type in your postcode, find your wifi and go through an auto retune.

4. Avoid connection with internet if you are not using smart features. Your Tv performs multiple processing activities from backups to app updates etc which can slow your tv down.

5. Turn off automatic updates for most apps to avoid unnecessary usage of network bandwidth.

6. Use LAN / Wired internet connection instead of wifi connection where possible to avoid network crashing or going down in case your network provider is not very stable.

7. Uninstall unwanted TV apps to free up space and avoid any backlashes between apps to consume tv resources.
